'NCIS' Showrunner Gary Glasberg Reveals Details About McGee, Tony's Dad & Other Characters For The Remainder Of Season 12

Season 12 of NCIS has been full of action and heartache, but there's still much more to come especially in the next three episodes.

Showrunner Gary Glasberg gave TVLine some insight on Tuesday about what to expect on Feb. 10 in Cadence, Feb. 17 in Cabin Fever and Feb. 24 in Blast From the Past.

'NCIS' Showrunner Shares Details On Next Three Episodes

In Cadence, the press release revealed the team in this episode would be investigating the murder of a Marine who attended the same military academy as Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly).

Flashbacks of teenaged Tony will occur with Tanner Stine portraying him.

TVLine further revealed that Steve Harris plays Tony's onetime mentor/basketball coach turned school provost.

"I think we captured the essence of who Tony may have been when he was younger - and any time that we can give continued insight into young DiNozzo, it only informs who he is today," Glasberg shared.

Glasberg also said, Tony will show "a respect [for his mentor] that carries over into how he handles himself as an agent, with Gibbs," adding, "It bounces back and forth in time pretty nicely."

In Cabin Fever, the site previously reported the plot would focus on the aftermath surrounding Diane Sterling's (Melinda McGraw) sudden and tragic death.

Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Senior FBI Agent Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano) "spend some time in Gibbs' cabin in the woods and really hash through some of the grief and the issues they're both facing."

"Those guys worked really hard," Glasberg said in regard to Harmon and Spano's performances.

Lastly, Blast From the Past revolves around a covert identity created for one of Gibbs' undercover cases from 20 years ago resurfaces when a murder victim is found living under the alias.

NCIS airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
