Today is the day that Apple is expected to announce the latest information on their highly anticipated iPhone 5. The rumors continue to swirl around the latest iPhone as Apple gets ready to put many of them to rest and possibly incite a few more.

If Apple streams the unveiling, it will be found on their official events page. If there is no live stream from Apple, Justin.tv and uStream may feature an live stream of the iPhone 5 event. iPhone 5 live blogs are also available by some sites.

Some of the current rumors for the newest addition to the iPhone line include possibly a larger screen, LTE connectivity for faster internet and a smaller dock connecter. The phone is expected to have a new 4-inch display screen, which some analysts say is a response to their competitor Samsung's Android phones, which is currently the bestselling smart phone.

The device is also expected to run on the new iOS 6 operating system, which will be unveiled side by side with the new phone. This announcement was first revealed at Apple's Word Wide Developers conference earlier this year. Some of the upgrades on the new operating system may include changes to Apple's Siri voice assistant, integration with Facebook and new application features.

Another change expected for the new phone is the loss of the preloaded Google Maps. Friction between the two tech giants has driven Apple to design a new mapping service to be released with iOS 6 making Google Maps an alternate app for download.

The event is aligned to prepare the market for the upcoming holiday season with a possible addition of an iPad Mini and new iPods.

There are high expectations from Apple and consumers over the addition of the new phone. The last quarter sales for iPhones have not met the company's expectations, but analysts say this may be due to potential buyers waiting for the latest device.

Apple has also stated that at the conclusion of the event they will post the keynotes on their website.

The Apple event of the year takes place at 10 a.m. PDT at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.
