The latest gossip from a British tabloid caused a stir with George Clooney.

According to "The Sun," the Oscar-winner and his current girlfriend, actress and former wrestler Stacy Keibler, were breaking up. This comes after repots that Clooney continued to state that he didn't want to get married.

The tabloid reported that an acquaintance of Keibler's spilled information on the couple and that Keibler was interested in settling down.

"Stacy hoped they would be together long-term. It was a big breakthrough to spend time with his parents," the informant stated. "But over the last few weeks George has pulled away from her."

Stan Rosenfield, representative for Clooney, told "Access Hollywood" on Tuesday, Sept. 11, that the rumor "is not true," and that it just was a "total fabrication designed to sell newspapers."

Clooney, 51, has developed a reputation in Hollywood as an actor famous for his roles on and off the screen. He was married to "Mad Men" actress Talia Balsam from 1983 to 1993, but since then has developed a personal view of never wanting to settle down again.

"I was married, so I gave it a shot," Clooney stated in January 2011.

He took his relationship with Keibler, 32, public with appearances at the premiere of his film "The Descendants" in New York City and at the Toronto Film Festival. This started just months after breaking up with model Elisabetta Canalis.

Much of the couple's time has been spent at a villa in Lake Como, Italy, notoriously owned by Clooney and a hot spot for a number of celebrity parties.

The statement from Clooney's representative hasn't stopped further rumors, however. Keibler attended Fashion Week on Tuesday in New York without Clooney at her side. When asked by E! News if he going to attend she replied "I don't know, ask him."
