The battle is on for who has the best tablet in the consumer arena.

The anticipation is growing for Apple's iPad Mini, but other competitors such as Google's new Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire HD are looking to stake their claims for tablet dominance.

From what a few reviewers have stated so far, it looks to be a well balanced competition.

Apple is taking a note from the cheaper devices put out by Amazon to attract to the buyers on a budget. The price tag for the iPad Mini is rumored to be priced around $250 to $300 depending on screen sizes which matches closely with the products being put out by Amazon and Google. Previously Apple's competitors have used price and basic features to attract buyers looking for no frills.

Google and Amazon have already challenged each other for consumers looking for smaller tablets.  On Thursday, Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, showed off the new Kindle Fire HD which measures at 8.9 inches. Apple's iPad Mini is rumored to be released with an option for a 7 in and 9 in screens.  Google's Nexus 7 will fit right in with 7 inches.

One of the biggest factors in the eyes of consumers will be the apps. Apple has kept its place as king of the app hill by offering thousands specifically designed for their iPads. However, the Kindle Fire runs a version of Google's Android operating system which gives access to apps available from Amazon. While it may not be as many as Apple, it may be enough for users.

Amazon and Google have yet to beat Apple's iPads in sales. Apple has been listening to the consumers needs by releasing the smaller version of their classic seller to attract people that don't want the commitment of carrying around a larger tablet. It's too early to see if the Mini will dominate sales this holiday season or if it'll be beaten back by worthy adversaries.
