Doctor Who will bring UNIT back in season 9.

'Doctor Who' Season 9 Finale Hints Already Spilling Out, Steven Moffat Teases Episodes 12 & 13

The BBC series kicked off filming for Block 2 just before Valentine's Day, and a new photo from the Doctor Who twitter indicated that a new director will be behind the camera for the next 2 episodes.

Hettie Macdonald will direct the season 9 premiere, according to Cult Box. Macdonald, who previously directed "Blink," will take on two more Steven Moffat scripted episodes in the form of "The Magician's Apprentice" and an untitled episode 2.

It appears UNIT will play a large role in the premiere, particularly since Cult Box reported that Jemma Redgrave will return as Kate Stewart as the season opens. The map from the recent set photo makes it look like much of the world is in grave danger as the lower half of the globe is covered in menacing red dots.

Doctor Who is planning a slew of interconnected two-part episodes, and it appears the premiere and its follow up will fall under that category.

"We're filming our first two-parter at the moment, which is in fact going to be episodes three and four of the new series," Moffat told the Radio Times, during Block 1 of filming.
