There have been complaints that the newly released iOS 6 Passbook is not working.

The new operating system by Apple was released on Wednesday afternoon, and immediately had thousands of iOS users upgrading to the new software.

However, within hours there were users taking to social media sites to complain that one of the new features Apple had been boasting about - the Passbook - was not working.

The Passbook is supposed to turn the Apple mobile devices into a type of digital wallet, so that users are able to organize and store items such as tickets, loyalty cards, coupons, and gift cards.

The feature has been one of the stand out items promoted by Apple that many eager fans were waiting to try out. However, many excited Apple customers were left disappointed at an apparent glitch.

Users have been complaining about being unable to get beyond the Passbook;s introduction screen.

Some have described clicking on the Apple App Store, which is featured below all the features that Apple promotes for the service. However, users are then shown an error message that explains that the device cannot access the App Store.

The issue though does not seem to affect all users and there are others who have said they have been able to access the Passbook feature. A GottaBeMobile editor, Josh Smith, has said that he has been able to access the Passbook, however, he was using an iOS 6 GM. All of the people complaining of being unable to access the Passbook seem to have been users who have downloaded the consumer version of the iOS 6.

It is believed the glitch will be ironed out very quickly by Apple, and once the iOS 6 gains traction more and more stores will start adding their products to the Passbook. At the moment only a handful of companies currently subscribe to the Passbook, including Ticketmaster, Fandango, Live Nation and Walgreens among others.
