Olivia Benson and the other detectives on Law and Order: SVU are tackling a new case that was inspired by a real life ripped from the headlines story. While the team tries to solve this new case, it becomes clear that some of the detectives are also dealing with some serious issues of their own.

'Law & Order: SVU' Fans On Twitter Dish On New Episode

Wednesday night's new episode, December Solstice, is about celebrity author Walter Briggs (guest star Robert Vaughn) who's gotten sick and now there is a feud between his daughters from his previous marriages and his hot young wife Charmaine (guest star Marcia Cross).

Briggs's daughters (played by Emily Bergl and Susan Pourfar), are fighting for control over their father's well being and his estate because they believe his wife his abusing him.

Shocking 'SVU' Secrets Reveals Something About Olivia Benson's Baby

In the sneak peek, which can be seen below, one of the daughters seeks help from the police because she believes her father's wife is pumping her dad full of pills to purposely kill him.  The daughter tries to tell her father that Charmaine has revoked their visitation visits, but it's clear that she has him under her spell.

While the detectives are trying to solve this case, they are also dealing with personal issues of their own. During last week's Undercover Mother episode, fans got a shocking surprise when the show revealed that Noah's biological father was the same pimp who was arrested for prostituting young women.

Johnny D. was the man responsible for nearly beating Ariel to death, and it looks like he will be facing some serious jail time.

It's unsure how all of this will play out, but it's evident that when it comes to SVU, nothing is ever what it seems to be.

Law and Order: SVU airs every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. on NBC. Viewers can watch a sneak peek of the new episode in the video below.
