It looks like Benedict Cumberbatch, just like his on screen persona Sherlock Holmes, loves a good surprise. A new report says that the British actor and his wife Sophie Hunter are keeping the sex of their child a secret until she gives birth later this summer.

According to Variety on Monday, Cumberbatch and Hunter mingled with other Hollywood stars during Vanity Fair's post-Oscars party in Los Angeles over the weekend. During the soiree, Cumberbatch apparently rubbed his pregnant wife's baby bump a few times while enjoying a pile of French fries and spending the evening deep in conversation with Joan and Jackie Collins.

Meanwhile, there has been a new report suggesting that Cumberbatch might be putting his red-hot career on hold for a while for his family.

Is Channing Tatum Going To Be In 'X-Men: Apocalypse?'

In a new interview with the Daily Mail this past week, Cumberbatch said that he is looking forward to staying at home with Hunter and simply "nesting" together.

He said, "I've been on muddy fields and on horseback playing Richard III for the BBC and I've been on more flights to Los Angeles and back than I can count. All of that has been special, but I'm ready to have a couple of months to ourselves to prepare for the baby and do some nesting. It's a real-life role, not a part."

Unfortunately for Cumberbatch though he won't be able to nest for too long as in May he will be preparing to rehearse a production of Hamlet that begins previewing at the Barbican Theatre in London in late summer. Cumberbatch will play at Danish prince in the production, which will be directed by award-winning Lyndsey Turner.
