There's less than a week away until the Season 7 premiere of RuPaul's Drag Race where the leading host revealed what keeps the show so entertaining.

Trixie Mattel Is The 'Clown' Of 'RuPaul' Season 7?

On Tuesday, Billboard posted an interview with RuPaul who mentioned that one of the reasons he loves drag so much is because the people who do it are so different from others.

"I think that's really the attraction for people who have tuned in year after year after year," the drag superstar said. "It's a show about the tenacity of the human spirit. We see ourselves in each of those girls. Even if the people at home watching haven't followed through on their dream of doing some outlandish thing that they assume people laugh at them for, they still relate to the people who follow through."

RuPaul then dished on what a queen needs to do to be able to get on the series and to make herself last. After receiving hundreds of audition tapes, it takes more than just owning a "pussycat wig and a pair of cha-cha heels."

"There's a lot more to it than that," RuPaul quipped. "And then on top of all of that, you know, you have to be a personality that pops on television. The first rule is: We are making a television show."

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 7 premieres on Monday, March 2 at 9 p.m. ET on Logo TV.
