Fans of ABC's Dancing With the Stars were shocked to learn that fan favorite pro Derek Hough would be returning to compete in season 20 after all.

Hough had originally said that he was going to be in the New York Spring Spectacular and therefore unable to compete in Dancing With the Stars but apparently he will make it work. The five-time champion came out at ABC's Good Morning America Tuesday morning and revealed that he would be back.

Hough's celebrity partner will be Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin. Will he take her to further glory in the new season?

Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron spoke with Entertainment Tonight about Hough's big surprise return.

"His desire was to be on the show, but he couldn't very well pass up that opportunity to do the show at Radio City and we all understood that," Bergeron explained. "Everything kind of aligned for him to be able to do both. I'm sure the other pros are hoping the jet lag gets to him!"

It would seem that Hough could be very exhausted between doing the New York Spring Spectacular in New York City and Dancing With the Stars in Los Angeles every single week. Hough is usually at the top of his game every week on the show, but it's certainly possible that the pressure could get to him.

Dancing With the Stars is slated to debut its 20th season on Monday, March 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
