He was supposed to be having the most epic birthday party a 10-year-old boy could hope for, but Spencer's (Nicholas Bechtel) celebration has quickly turned into what could be the last he will ever experience on General Hospital.

After the showdown between him, Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer), Cameron (Michael Leone) and Josslyn (Hannah Nordberg), he and Emma were dancing in the living room of Windemere when they realized the room was on fire. Spencer did the noble thing and got Emma out of there-before deciding to go back so he could get his present from Sonny (Maurice Benard).

However, he then became trapped in the flames, and by the time his father, Nikolas (Tyler Christopher), got to the room to save him, he was already passed out on the floor. With Patrick's (Jason Thompson) help, they got Spencer outside of the house-but Patrick wasn't having a lot of luck getting a pulse from Spencer.

Now, in a preview clip for the Wednesday, Feb. 25 episode, the unthinkable may have happened to the young, precocious prince-as his father and Emma are seen consoling one another in the hospital waiting room with tears flowing down their faces.

If his son was killed in the fire, it will thoroughly devastate Nikolas-and could have an undesirable effect on him. He is one of the only Cassadines who has been considered to be good over the years-but the death of his son, coupled with the fact that his one-time wife also died, could cause him to truly cross over to the Cassadine dark side.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m. on ABC.
