It seems that Castle stars Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic still haven't renewed their contracts for season 8, nor has their been a decision on whether or not the show will be renewed.

Fillion, who plays Castle in the ABC series, and Katic, who plays Beckett, are contracted to stay with the show through season 7. As this is currently the seventh season and there is no word on a potential renewal, Castle fans are slightly worried that their favorite show may come to an end.

Castle show runner David Amann spoke with TVLine recently about this issue and was diplomatic in his response.

"Obviously, we're prepared for whatever comes along, and we'll adjust as necessary," he said. "But we're hopeful that the show will move forward. In the meantime, we'll just make the best show that we can."

As the reader question in the report brings up, two of the major Castle storylines have been resolved this season, Bracken (Jack Coleman) and 3XK (Michael Mosley). Castle and Beckett also got married for real this time. This would suggest that Castle producers might be wrapping things up. However, Amann saying that he is hopeful that the show will be moving forward indicates that they do not want to end the show just yet.

Perhaps wrapping up these long-term storylines is a way of covering their tracks just in case ABC does not decide to renew the show for season 8. Show renewals and cancellations usually aren't announced until May, so it remains to be seen what will happen to Castle.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
