Sofia Vergara lost to her "Modern Family" co-star Julie Bowen for Best Supporting Actress in a comedy Sunday night at the 64th Emmy Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Bowen who plays the role of Claire Dunphy on ABC's "Modern Family," won her second consecutive win in the category and joined the cast to receive the best comedy series award at the end of the ceremony.

Despite not taking home the award, Vergara was acknowledged by Bowen for her work as an actress.

"She really doesn't get the credit she deserves as an actress," Bowen said about Vergara on the press room. "She certainly gets it as a celebrity, but as an actress, she really is talented and amazing. There's only a few of us, I think, who really understand that what she does is not just play herself. I love her, I really do."

Bowen also said Vergara encouraged her to wear her dress for tonight.

"She is a gracious, wonderful woman, and is probably the only reason why I am able to wear a curvy fishtail dress. I owe her a lot," Bowen added.

Vergara looked stunning in an quamarine glittering gown with a cutout reverse halter neckline by Zuhair Murad.

The latin actress showed off her curves at the red carpet where she revealed that she had brought 19 of her family members to the Awards Ceremony.

"I brought all of my family. There are like 19 of them," Vergara told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet.

Vergara also caught everyone's attention when she came on stage with the cast of "Modern Family" to receive the Best Comedy Series award at the end of the ceremony today.

Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore and Claire Danes were among the best dressed tonight at the 64th Emmy Awards Ceremony.

Kidman wore a white gown with electric blue paillettes on the front bodice while Moore and Danes went boldly for bright yellow gowns. Danes wore a strapless yellow Lanvin gown that helped distract attention from her pregnant belly while Moore looked gorgeous in a long-sleeve stretchy gown by Christian Dior Couture.
