Nimoy passed Spock's pointy ears and logical outlook to Quinto when JJ Abrams rebooted the 1960's series with the Star Trek movie in 2009. While Nimoy kept his role as the original and future version of the character, Quinto became a reimagined version of the Vulcan in a new timeline.

"I never expected when I got that job and met him that we would forge such a powerful friendship," Quinto told Entertainment Weekly. "I love him, his wife. They're like family to me, 100 percent. Like second parents, for sure."
