Helen McCrory looked quite personable on the set of Penny Dreadful this week despite the fact that her character might just be the show's greatest villain yet.

On Thursday, producer Christopher King shared a photo on Twitter of the actress looking "wickedly gorgeous" on set, giving a glimpse into what appears to be Evelyn Poole's mysterious home.

Sir Malcolm Still Grieving On 'Penny Dreadful'? 

Dressed entirely in black, McCrory leaned against a rather dramatic archway as she gave the camera a smile. Having first appeared as Madame Kali in season one, the actress was bumped up as a series regular for season two.

As the program continues, audiences will find out that Madame Kali is really Evelyn Poole, and while she's making advances to charm Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) she is secretly after Vanessa (Eva Green).

Evelyn is designed to be the show's first human villain, proving that it's not just literal monsters that pose a threat. With ties to the occult and an unknown agenda, her interest in Vanessa is a mystery. Series creator John Logan hasn't revealed much beyond the fact that Evelyn's interest in her is malevolent, which is more than enough to mean bad things are headed to London.

Penny Dreadful will return on Showtime for a second season on Sunday, May 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
