Nobody likes to be the first team eliminated from The Amazing Race, but Jeff and Lyda, who were unfortunately crowned with that honor for season 26, now admit that things probably would have turned out differently for them if they had switched detours.

The couple, who have been dating for four years, spoke to TV Guide following their elimination in Tokyo, and said that had they either chosen to do the detour that involved sake first, or switched to that one when the dancing task proved too difficult, they probably would have survived elimination-and that they regret not doing that now.

"We got caught up in the moment. We were on the train and made an alliance with Kurt and Bergen, and so we were all giddy we were together doing this," Jeff said. "They were like, 'We wanna dance.' And I was like, 'Alright, I guess we'll dance.'"

"I should've put my foot down right then and said, 'No, I don't wanna dance.,'" he continued. "But the sake thing looked scary because you had to memorize 10 bottles. But it turns out you only had to serve one and if it was wrong, you could just try again and keep guessing. We keep wishing we did that right from the get-go."

"We've laid away many a night thinking about it!" Lyda added. "We should've done the sake!"

And though some may blame fellow couple Mikey and Rochelle for their elimination because they U-turned them (forcing them to do the sake detour after dancing one), the pair doesn't hold a grudge.

"I think Mike and Rochelle felt like they had to because they were the second to last to leave the dancing. And with all the transit-it was way across Tokyo you had to travel-you didn't know if you would have a hiccup with the transit," Jeff explained. "We told them, 'We would've done the same thing.' It was the right thing to do. Anybody in their position, being the second to last to leave the dancing, would've done that. We have no hard feelings. They're a sweet couple. We didn't hold any grudges."

The Amazing Race airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
