David Amann, the show runner on ABC's Castle recently suggested that two of the biggest villains in the show's history might not be dead after all.

'Castle' Stars Nathan Fillion & Stana Katic's Future With Show Still Up In The Air?

Amann recently spoke with The Hindustan Times about a variety of topics, including the deaths of Jerry Tyson (Michael Mosley) and Dr. Kelly Nieman (Annie Wersching) in one of the more recent episodes of Castle. While they definitely seemed to have died in the episode, Amann suggested that a return was still possible.

"It would certainly appear that they're both dead but, we've assumed in the past that Tyson is dead and he hasn't been so I guess it's not possible to say for sure," Amann teased. "Castle [Nathan Fillion] and Beckett [Stana Katic] believe he's dead. I'll leave it at that."

'Castle' Star Stana Katic Ready To Make Drastic Career Change?

In the mean time, the show is dealing with Castle being back at the 12th Precinct and working with Beckett again. The dynamic duo have gotten married and Amann noted that their relationship has changed since.

"I think that poor Castle spent a lot of his energy trying to win Beckett over and now they're married so a lot of that struggle has now gone by," Amann said. "But having said that, I think that they're now in two different phases to their relationship and relationships don't stop being interesting just because people get married and I think that's been our discovery as we've been writing this show. So I think that the characters and their relationships have evolved over time and we hope to continue to bring fun and sparkle to that relationship as it evolves moving forward."

The fun did continue in the show's latest episode, which centered around space and aliens, so Castle fans probably don't have to worry about their relationship becoming too boring.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
