Now that we know that Transformers 5 will finally be in production mode soon, and Mark Wahlberg has been confirmed, the big question remains about the rest of the cast, especially the younger stars that featured in Age of Extinction.

Latest Updates About Transformers 5

There has been no word about the other new faces of the franchise, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor, reprising their roles in the sequel to Age of Extinction. So far only Wahlberg has confirmed his involvement revealing that filming should begin soon. Ideally, Peltz and Reynor should be back to ensure consistency but the plot could also easily do away with their characters from the storyline for the next instalment. In keeping with its tradition of giving upcoming actors a break, the film might also cast fresh faces, and move on from Peltz and Reynor.

Meanwhile, rumors of the stars of the original like Megan Fox, returning have been doing the rounds. A recent report suggested that Jonathan Liebesman the director of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles might be coming on board and taking the reigns from Michael Bay, who has reportedly walked out of the franchise. As Fox starred in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and has a working relationship with Liebsman, it would encourage her to Transformers.

Transformers 5 Sticking To 2016 Release Date?

Earlier last year, rumors of Fox coming back on board had started doing the rounds.

On September 1, MoviePilot reported that while Fox has expressed interest in returning, she might be in a bit of bind because of her commitment to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Recently, Fox who had been very critical of Bay right after the first phase of the Transformers franchise that she had starred in, buried the hatchet and said she would love to work with the director again. It seems like the two are best pals again and he was instrumental in getting her a part in the reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Speaking to E!News in an interview dated August 4, the actress revealed that she would be interested in coming back on board if she was asked.

"If [Bay] ever wanted me to do a cameo like assembling an autobot motorcycle in a bike shop or something like that, I would totally do it," Fox said.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
