Lindsay Lohan rushed to the emergency room Sunday night to seek treatment for a lung infection.

The 26-year-old actress has been battling a case of "walking pneumonia" for weeks, friends said, and things got bad enough over the weekend that Lohan sought care at Mt. Sinai hospital, TMZ reported.

Lohan's father Michael Lohan told The New York Daily News that asthma is to blame for the ailment.

"She's fine, but she had a bad case of asthma as a kid, so she has to take these things seriously," Michael Lohan said. "When she was a kid, we almost lost her a couple of times because of the asthma."

Lohan's father confirmed she left the hospital with antibiotics. A representative for the actress told People Magazine that Lohan was "treated and released and is doing fine."

In addition to the lung infection, Lohan is also battling the fallout from her arrest last week. She was taken into custody after a Manhattan cook claimed Lohan hit him with her Porsche at the Dream Hotel.

Surveillance footage of the incident has since surfaced that calls the cook's story into question. Though he claimed he was hurt by Lohan's car, the video shows him chasing after the vehicle immediately following the alleged contact.

Lohan is planning to sue the cook for defamation because he told the media that she reeked of alcohol during the incident, which Lohan says is false and could hurt her career if the industry thinks she has fallen off the wagon. Police who responded to the incident at the hotel did not think alcohol was involved, and Lohan wasn't asked to submit to a sobriety test.

Michael Lohan confirmed his daughter's pending lawsuit to the Daily News on Monday.

"She's absolutely suing," he said. "You have to put your foot down to people doing this to you. I mean, come on. This guy has a brace on but went running down the ramp after her?"
