There have been many people trying to make a claim for custody on her since she was born, and now, the official battle for Avery will heat up on General Hospital.

Ava Turns Up Alive

Following her birth, Avery was kidnapped by Franco (Roger Howarth) and Nina (Michelle Stafford), and was being taken care of by her sister, Kiki (Hayley Erin), and brother, Morgan (Bryan Craig), since both her mother, Ava (Maura West) and father, Sonny (Maurice Benard) were locked up in Pentonville. However, since they escaped the prison, Sonny was pardoned for his crimes and took custody of his daughter, and Ava has been presumed dead after she was shot and fell off a bridge.

Now, following Sonny's pardon for murder, Michael (Chad Duell) filed for custody of the baby girl as well, in an effort to keep her safe from Sonny's mobster lifestyle, and the two are currently duking it out in court with a judge set to make the final decision on which one will get to care for her.

However, the case in the courtroom will continue to heat up after the judge calls a recess-and Michael receives a warning from Ric (Rick Hearst) about why he won't win the case.

"Avery is Sonny's daughter, and he's going to keep her," Ric says in a preview clip for the Tuesday, March 3 episode.

Meanwhile, someone else could twist things around by also arriving at the courtroom-and potentially also trying to lay claim to the little girl-Julian (Michael DeVry), who is her uncle. However, if he does make a claim, his tentative truce with Sonny will officially end.

"You want to make yourself my enemy?" Sonny demands in the clip.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m. on ABC.
