In a recent interview, showrunner Erica Messer revealed that Jennifer Love Hewitt's pregnancy will be written into the upcoming episodes of Criminal Minds for her character Kate Callahan.

Was Gideon Killed Off Because Mandy Patinkin Dissed Criminal Minds?

TVGuide reported this bit of exciting news revealing that this development in Kate's arc will be introduced in 17 of the chapter. Messer spoke to the entertainment website about how they will build it up.

"She's been acting out a little bit, and we reveal ... it's because Kate is gonna have a baby," Messer said. "The fact that she and Chris decide to have a baby rocks Meg a little bit. Even though she's been raised by amazing people, there's an underlying abandonment since her parents were killed when she was very young. She's trying to deal with that and being 13 and navigate the world and see her place in it."Not to mention being stalked by a network of online predators, the season-long unsubs, that nearly snatched her last month. "All of that is by design," Messer says. "We might hit it again before the finale."

Actor Playing Kevin Lynch In Criminal Minds Arrested Again

Interestingly enough, A.J. Cook, who plays Jennifer Jareau on the show, is also pregnant but there has been no news about how the creators of the series plan to deal with that just yet. Two pregnancies on the show might get a bit too much too handle.

Here's the synopsis for the next episode, titled 'Lockdown,' of Criminal Minds:

"When two guards at a privatized maximum security prison in Texas are murdered, the BAU suspects that more than one UnSub within the prison could be at work, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, March 4 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Series star Thomas Gibson directed the episode. William Ragsdale ('Justified,' 'Herman's Head') guest stars as prison captain Dale Shavers."
