The case to win custody of baby Avery is only heating up more on General Hospital, especially after Michael (Chad Duell) pulls out a sneaky move to ensure things will go his way.

The Custody Battle For Avery Heats Up

He was told by both Ric (Rick Hearst) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) before the second day of hearings that he had very little chance of winning custody of his sister, because Sonny (Maurice Benard) was her biological father-and there was no legitimate proof tying him to the mob and proving Michael's claims that Avery's life would be in danger if she lived with her father. However, Michael insisted he would prevail and refused to drop the suit.

Now, as Judge Walters (who happens to be Michael's grandmother Monica's [Leslie Charleson] boyfriend) takes the bench, Michael knows the case could suddenly turn in his favor-even though Alexis is immediately aware that her client has used some sort of influence to make things go his way and doesn't approve of the scheme.

Ava Is Alive!

"What have you done?" she asks him in a preview clip for the Wednesday, March 4 episode.

And while Michael secretly gloats over his new advantage, Sonny, Ric and Carly (Laura Wright) are unaware that Walters will likely rule against them-but they are aware that they recognize him, though they can't place why.

"How do I know him?" Carly asks.

If they can't figure out his relation to Michael in time, the case could completely go against them as a result.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m.
