"We definitely talked about [sequels] a lot," Trevorrow said. "We wanted to create something that would a little less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story."

Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jake Johnson, Irrfan Khan, Ty Simpkins and Judy Greer.

The Jurassic Park films are based on Michael Crichton's series of novels about prehistoric beasts being revived by revolutionary gene technology. Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are co-producing the film alongside Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two installments in the franchise. Irrfan Khan and Ty Simpkins also star in the movie.

The film is scheduled for release on June 12, 2015.
