Sofia Vergara is about as famous for her voluptuous curves as for her outlandish character Gloria Pritchett on "Modern Family," and the actress discussed her much-discussed body with Katie Couric on Wednesday.

These days, Vergara flaunts her figure on the red carpet in revealing and tight-fitting outfits that play up her assets, but she revealed to Couric that her curves weren't as popular before she became famous on "Modern Family."

The actress, 40, told Couric that before she scored any big roles, her management team suggested Vergara get a breast reduction in the hopes of lander better parts.

"At the beginning, it was hard, and [my publicist] used to tell me, 'Maybe you should get to a more normal, standard size,'" Vergara said.

But the actress, who revealed her bra size is a 32F, said she never considered changing the sexy shape she was blessed with.

"I'm very proud of my body and the way I look," Vergara said. "I would be ungrateful to be saying, 'Oh, I'm so mad because people just look at me and see my pretty face.' I thank God for what he has given me and I take advantage of it."\\

And even if she had considered a breast reduction, Vergara said her mother would never have allowed her to go through with it because she constantly reminds her daughter that most women covet her figure and would kill to have a similar body.

"[My mom said], 'God is going to punish you, you can't chop your boobs out. It's crazy. All the women are risking their [lives] to get boobs.' So I didn't do it," she said.

Vergara's body made news unexpectedly at the Emmy Awards this Sunday in Los Angeles. Just minutes before "Modern Family" won the award for Best Comedy Series, Vergara's tight dress split at the back seam, exposing her rear. She quickly rushed backstage to have the gown sewn up before heading on stage to accept the award.
