Brennan's (Emily Deschanel) pregnancy will be more comedic in nature than the first one when Fox's Bones returns for the second half of season 10.

'Bones': Brennan & Booth's Co-Workers Wonder 'What's Going On' With Them?

Bones creator Hart Hanson spoke with TVGuide.com this week about pregnancy no. 2 for Brennan and Booth (David Boreanaz), and even though it will be played for laughs, there will be an extra set of challenges for them.

"It has to be different from the last one," Hanson said, saying the pregnancy will be played for laughs. "She is really pregnant, so we have to make a meal out of the fact that she's very, very pregnant."

Will Booth's Gambling Problem Have 'Repercussions' On His Marriage On 'Bones'?

While Brennan did very well and had a relatively easy time with her first pregnancy, that may not be the case this time around.

"She sailed through her last pregnancy," Hanson noted. "She's going to find out that not all pregnancies are the same."

On top of everything else, Bones is set to introduce another serial killer though they won't be as major or prominent as previous serial killers.

"Our other serial killers have existed for great, huge arcs, so they've had to be quite complex," Hanson said. "This serial killer does not stick around for very long, so that killer's motivations are a little more clear and not as bizarre as we've had before."

It remains to be seen when this serial killer will be introduced, but it's looking like the show will continue to balance light humor with dramatic gravitas going forward.

Bones season 10 returns on Thursday, March 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
