Jason Aldean has apologized after photos emerged showing the country singer cuddling up to and kissing former American Idol star Brittany Kerr.

The controversial photos were taken as the pair met at The Den in California. Aldean is a married father of two. He is married to his high school sweetheart Jessica Ussery.

However, over the weekend the photos emerged showing him cuddling up to and about to kiss the American Idol contestant.

The photos caused a huge stir over the weekend and by Sunday Aldean was already in damage control mode and issued an apology for cheating on his wife and family. He attempted to give as an explanation that he had simply had too much to drink.

Aldean posted the following message on his Facebook page: "I wanted to talk to you directly, so you were hearing the truth from me and not just reading allegations made about my personal life on gossip web sites.

“The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar."

"I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I'm not perfect, and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys," he wrote. "I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support."

Kerr is a dancer for the Charlotte Bobcats and previously appeared on Season 11 of American Idol.

The apology has seen a split reaction from fans, who have not been afraid to air their views. By Monday morning about 30,000 responses had been posted, some rebuking the singer, where as others attempted to show support and commend him for coming clean rather than lying.
