The commemorative ceremony took place at St. Paul's Cathedral and was held in special meaning for Prince Harry who is about to retire from the military after serving two tours in Afghanistan.

The gathering of the full Royal Family may be one of Middleton's last appearances before she gives birth to her second royal baby.

The service also marked the end of Britain's combat operations in Afghanistan and paid tribute to approximately 150,000 British personnel who served in that nation. It also honored the 453 men and women who died in the conflict over there.

The ceremony also featured a military parade of servicemen and a flyby of British military aircraft.

Middleton has a busy schedule but has only one last engagement scheduled before the birth of her second child.

Hello Magazine reported that the princess is set to attend the St. Patrick's Day Parade at Mons Barracks on March 17th and she will be accompanied by her husband, Prince William.

Middleton will be handing out shamrocks to guardsmen as she has done in the past. This is a tradition started in 1902 by Queen Alexandra, the wife of Edward VII.

The expectant mother will most likely also stop to pet Domhnall, the Irish Guards' official mascot, the site reported. Apparently the hound has the rank of Guardsman and can be promoted for good conduct.

As has been done in the past, the guardsmen in the battlion will toast to the royal couple for coming.
