Fans of Blue Mountain State are just going to have to wait a little bit longer than expected to see Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland in theaters.

'Blue Mountain State' Wraps Shooting In North Carolina

The film, which was initially slated for a Spring 2015 opening , appears to have been pushed back instead to a Fall 2015 date, according to a tweet from Alan Ritchson, who portrays Thad Castle himself.

"Always amazed by the passion and loyalty of the BMS fans! Thanks for all the support. The finished movie is likely out this fall. #GOGATS," he tweeted March 12.

'Blue Mountain State' To Be The 'Best' Movie Of 2015?

It is unclear why the film's release date may have been pushed back, after it reportedly wrapped filming in Wilmington, N.C. back in December and, at the time, seemed to still be on-track for its initial release.

The film, which is based off of the short-lived TV show on Spike that was cancelled after three seasons, reunites the gang of the fictional Blue Mountain State University, home of the nation's best college football team. The group engages in hilarious and sometimes often questionable party traditions in order to retain their bond and title-but things could be a bit different in the film after all.

According to a summary for the film, things actually won't pick up during the group's senior year in college (which would have played out on a fourth season), but instead, picks things up 10 years later, where Thad is now in the NFL, and Alex (Darin Brooks) is working as a coach for a minor league football team. However, when Thad's team starts to slip and starts looking as if they'll lose the championship, he will need to turn to the only people he knows can help him-the other former members of the Blue Mountain State Goats.

Expected to be back for the film are most of the members of the show's original cast, including Romanski as Sammy, James Cade as Harmon, Ed Marinaro as Coach Daniels, and Sam Jones III as Shilo.
