Clint Eastwood Says 'American Sniper' Is An Anti-War Film

Scott is carving out his career in films like Texas Chainsaw 3D and The Longest Ride, but he knows there's no escaping the shadow of his father, actor-director Clint Eastwood.

When Scott first started acting, he decided not to use his father's name because he didn't want it top bias people.

Blake Shelton Speaks Out In Favor Of 'American Sniper'

"I just wanted to see if I could do it on my own…When I was younger, I thought that was a big thing. I had a lot of pride. I wanted to earn it on my own merit," said the 28-year-old during an interview with Treat Magazine on Wednesday.

Eventually, however, the actor realized that it didn't matter. "The reality is people are going to say whatever the f--- they want anyway! You can't control that," he explained. "At some point, you say F--- it. That's my dad's last name, that's my legacy."

Of course, it helps when your father is incredibly supportive. The California-native admitted that his father has always backed him when it comes to making big decisions.

"To be honest, [my dad] didn't care if I was a plumber or if I was an actor," noted Scott. "He just said, 'Whatever you do, do it well. Be humble, work hard, and be a man.'"

Eastwood has worked hard to live by these words, surrounding himself by people who will call him on it when he gets out of line and trying to stay "as far away" as possible from Hollywood.

"I live a very simple life," he insisted. "I'm not interested in celebrity or fame. I just want to work."

Scott may try to maintain a sense of professionalism, but that hasn't kept the star from occasionally sharing a shirtless pic or two. "It's all in good fun," he said. "My friends will say, 'Put a shirt on!' But I grew up surfing and hanging out on the beach, so I've sort of always liked being shirtless."

Considering the stir most of those photos have caused online, it seems the young Eastwood's fans are more than happy with his dress code.
