Castle show runner David Amann recently revealed what they are planning for the show's upcoming 150th episode.

Amann spoke with TVLine recently and revealed that the 150th episode of Castle will essentially be a "classic" episode of the ABC series, considering it is directly followed by the season 7 finale.

"Obviously, the 150th episode is a milestone for the show but it also directly precedes the season finale," Amann said. "At this point, we intend Episode 22 to be a buoyant, classic episode of Castle, while [the finale] will focus on compelling, high-stakes story-telling surrounding Castle [Nathan Fillion] and Beckett [Stana Katic] mythology."

New 'Castle' Episode May Focus On Some of the Women in the 12th Precinct?

Season 7 has been an important one for Castle with several storylines tying up, including Castle and Beckett getting married and the ultimate deaths of Dr. Kelly Nieman (Annie Wersching) and Jerry Tyson (Michael Mosley).

Based on Amann's comments, it's looking to be another big episode that ties in more directly with the overall series' mythology than an individual procedural episode.

This of course comes amid news that stars Fillion and Katic have not yet signed contracts to continue with the show beyond season 7. ABC has apparently not made a decision yet on if they are renewing Castle beyond the current season and the show's stars are nearing the end of their contracts.

More news on this should come within the next two months.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
