Orange Is the New Black standout Uzo Aduba recently revealed how she captured the spirit of "Crazy Eyes."

Catherine Curtin Says Cast Is 'Phenomenal' In 'Orange Is the New Black' Season 3

Aduba plays Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black and has become a fan favorite in the process. Playing the troubled yet misunderstood character, the actress told Daily Mail Australia that she really worked on Suzanne's "stare," though she also used what her mother gave her.

"I focused madly on the stare," she said. "My mama gave me my eyes and I used them for the show."

Aduba added that she initially did not want to use her eyes as much, "but eyes say it all."

She noted, "I didn't practice. I thought I want everything she does to be slightly off so when she's flirting and winking she blinks twice. It never quite lands. I knew her name was Crazy Eyes and people called her that so I decided to go for the stare showing something in her had switched. I love her very much."

Her portrayal of Suzanne has changed Aduba's life. With this being her first big breakout role, she has won an Emmy Award, a SAG Award and been nominated for a Golden Globe. The actress could very well continue her awards domination as long as Orange Is the New Black remains popular and well rated by critics.

Orange Is the New Black returns for season 3 on Friday, June 12 on Netflix, with all 13 episodes being released at once.
