Despite rumors that they've been dating secretly for over a year, Jamie Foxx insists that he and actress Katie Holmes are "just friends."

The Annie star approached TMZ cameras after leaving a bank in Westlake Village, Calif. This week. "Oh, come on you guys have been trying to make that stick for three years," said Foxx of the alleged relationship. "We're just friends."

The actor insisted that rumors about him and Tom Cruise's 36-year-old ex-wife are "just stories" and that people should "respect" the truth.

So why has Foxx been spending so much time with the Woman In Gold actress? And what does he have to say about that Us Weekly photo which showed them holding hands?

Foxx didn't comment on the photo, but as for the pair spending time together he claimed it was strictly professional. "Anthony Zuiker, creator of CSI, he offered us an animated project," explained the 47-year-old. "And we're working on that."

Last Week, Us Weekly released a candid image of Foxx and Homes in February holding hands and rubbing their feet together. Since then, rumors have circulated as to whether or not the pair have gotten together.

Holmes and Cruise divorced back in 2012 after five years of marriage. Their daughter, Suri, is now eight.

So is Foxx telling the truth? Or is he trying to through the press off the trail? Either way, he and Holmes will likely remain under a microscope as long as they continue to spend time together.
