Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough is doing his best to accommodate for his and partner Nastia Liukin's busy schedules.

Derek Hough Talks Nastia Liukin on 'Dancing With the Stars'

Hough wrote about Week 2 of Dancing With the Stars this week in his TVGuide.com blog while also looking ahead to Week 3. Since Hough is also performing in the New York Spring Spectacular and Liukin is still in school, they have to find time to rehearse whenever they possibly can.

The five-time Mirrorball champion said that he is trying to "get ahead of the game" as they prepare for their samba next week.

"I don't like pre-choreographing before I go in. I like doing things with my partner and seeing what works," Hough wrote. "If I do it before I see them, then I'm guessing and kind of forcing things onto them. Right now, I have nothing planned for the samba yet! It's much more difficult than rumba, so we'll see how it goes! We also have The View Wednesday morning and then rehearsal and then rehearsal in the evening. Nastia was supposed to leave a day earlier this week, but I'm like, 'I think you might wanna stay!'"

Despite their busyness, Hough and Liukin managed to score a 34 out of 40 during Week 2, which put them at the top of the leaderboard. Their tough work ethic may ultimately serve them well instead of become a hindrance.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
