Mariah Carey has beefed up her security team after her "American Idol" co-star Nicki Minaj reportedly made threats to her life.

When Carey arrived at a taping for a round of "American Idol" auditions in Baton Rouge, La., on Thursday, the R&B diva had quite the entourage along with her. She was trailed by her handlers, a team of security guards and police officers.

Carey was dressed impeccably in a hot pink fitted dress, diamond earrings and oversized sunglasses. Her brightly-colored outfit was the only splash of color amid the grey, white and black clothing of her security detail.

The extra security shouldn't be a surprise. Carey promised to increase her protection after her feud with Minaj exploded and Carey said she was anxious about the rapper's "unpredictable behavior."

It seems the tipping point came when Minaj reportedly said, "If I had a gun, I would shoot the b-tch," according to a statement Carey gave to "The View" co-host Barbara Walters.

Walters discussed her private conversation with Carey on the air and revealed some of the things they discussed about the feud.

"She said she is very concerned, she's with her twins, she doesn't feel that anything would happen, but Nicki is unpredictable and Mariah says she can't take a chance and has hired extra security," Walters said on "The View." "Nicki has not apologized, but they were together in meetings, during which Nicki said, 'I love you, but we might fight again.' Mariah said at this point she doesn't feel comfortable emotionally but she will continue with the show because she loves mentoring the contestants."

Though Carey and Minaj have taken all the spotlight on the "American Idol" judging panel, they are not the only ones auditioning new contestants. Longtime judge Randy Jackson has returned for the show's new season, and country star Keith Urban rounds out the group.
