Ben Affleck made mention of his new alter ego Batman at a Senate Congressional hearing Thursday.

'Batman v Superman' Star Amy Adams Says Ben Affleck Is 'Hot' As Batman

Affleck appeared at the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs on Thursday, giving his testimony to the committee about the importance of foreign aid for misfortunate countries in Africa. The actor, who is set to make his debut performance as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year, gave a mention of the iconic character in his testimony.

"I would be remiss not to recognize my co-star in Batman," Affleck quipped, referring to Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy, who had a cameo appearance in The Dark Knight Rises. "Your role was marginally smaller than mine, but I understand you were quite good. Good morning, sir."

Of course Christian Bale was the actor playing Batman in The Dark Knight Rises, but the spirit of the joke remained humorous.

The actor made mention of billionaire Bill Gates, who also testified at the hearing, joking, ""Thanks for having me follow the greatest and most important philanthropist in the history of the world. I'm sure I'm going to come off great."

Gates is very well known for his charity work, particularly with his Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

In the mean time, Batman fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Batman v Superman. The film has been kept unusually secretive with the release date only a year away. There have been no official trailers released. The only real glimpse of what's to come has been in the form of photos of the various stars in character, from Affleck as Batman to Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, most recently.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on March 25, 2016.
