Leann Rimes was set to begin her comeback this weekend with her first live performance since she checked into rehab to treat stress and anxiety issues, but she was derailed after a dental procedure left her in so much pain she had to cancel the show.

Rimes was scheduled to launch her concert tour in Nevada on Friday and then perform at the Kick It Off & Kick It Up anniversary gala at The Autry National Center on Saturday, but she postponed both performances due to a "massive infection" that required lots of dental work.

She took to her Twitter account to explain the situation to fans.

I feel like I got hit in my right side of my face with a baseball bat :( NOT a good feeling when I am getting on a plane," she tweeted on Saturday. "For all my fans at Wendover [Nevada] last night, the show will be rescheduled, not a canceled show. WORST way ever to kick off a tour.....under anesthesia and a massive infection. Well, onward and upward. It can only get better from here!!!"

She also explained the situation further on her blog, where she wrote that her health situation has been an ongoing one that needed treatment.

"I've been living in a dental nightmare for 10 months. I'm getting back on track though, I hope. I've had too many detours this year due to dental issues. I'm finally in great hands and being well taken care of," she wrote. "Let's just pray I'm on the mend. I'll see you all on the road very soon."

But she kept an optimistic tone and assured fans that she would return to the road and make up the missed shows as soon as she is recovered.

"I'm finally in great hands and being well taken care of ... needless to say, I'm resting today," she said. "Thank you all for your support and understanding. The last 10 months of pain are hard for me to wrap my head around. I'm sure it's difficult for you all to understand too. Let's just pray I'm on the mend. I'll see you all on the road very soon."
