Amid rumors that Fifty Shades of Grey film director Sam Taylor Johnson was feuding with author E.L. James, the director has finally confirmed that she will not be returning to work on the sequels and now production may be delayed yet again.

It's been reported that Universal execs and James have been unable to reach a deal surrounding the new film and while Johnson's decision comes as no surprise, it looks like screen writer Kelly Marcel is also predicted to quit as well.

A rep for the production company recently spoke out and apparently the author wants more control over the film's script.

"The studio had always intended to sit down with the author after the film opened and discuss next steps, and that has not yet happened," said a Universal spokesman.

Clearly details are still up in the air as no official release date for the sequel has been announced and sources claim that executives are still in search of another film director.

Last week The Hollywood Reporter announced that Johnson released a statement saying, "While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three."

While Johnson has resigned from her position, the film director says that making the movie was an incredible journey and she's extremely grateful to have formed close and lasting relationships with the entire crew.

Johnson's decision to quit comes as no surprise after rumors took over the Internet claiming that she and James were in a huge war with one another.

Actors Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have been told to plan on an early 2016 shoot for a 2017 release.
