So, who could these mysterious characters be? Screen Rant has voiced hopes that one of the two women will take on the role of Captain Marvel, but both actresses are in their 40s and don't seem like prime candidates for the role.

Avengers 2 is already jam packed with superheroes and villains - Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (James Spader), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), The Vision (Paul Bettany), and Ultron (James Spader). Would writer/director Joss Whedon really try to squeez in another big name hero?
