Beyonce's busy schedule cost her chance to work with Clint Eastwood.

The singer was planned to be a part of Eastwood's latest film, a remake of the classic "A Star is Born."

"I was looking forward to the production of 'A Star Is Born' and the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood," Beyonce told E! News on Tuesday. "For months we tried to coordinate our schedules to bring this remake to life but it was just not possible. Hopefully in the future we will get a chance to work together."

Since January 2011, Beyonce has been a part of the project, but caused production setbacks when she became pregnant.

With Beyonce out of the picture, the replacement for her role is rumored to be Grammy-winning jazz musician Esperanza Spalding, according to Variety. Spalding won her Grammy for Best New Artist in 2011 beating top contender Justin Bieber.

Other roles have yet been filled for the production. Many of Hollywood's top male stars are rumored to join the cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, and Will Smith. A male lead has yet to be signed on and the female role previously held by Beyonce won't be recast until an actor officially joins the cast.

"We've talked to several people, and we probably won't address that one till next year," Eastwood told E! News at the premiere of "Trouble With the Curve".

"A Star is Born" revolves around a star-crossed love affair. Eastwood's version will be the fourth made since the original was produced in 1937 with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. There was also a 1954 version that starred Judy Garland and James Mason and the latest 1976 remake with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
