Pop star Hilary Duff is releasing a new album that will be related to the difficulties she's faced in the past year.
On Monday, MTV released a video with Duff as she dished on her new music as well as some of the challenges she had to go up against, one of the biggest being her failed marriage with Mike Comrie.
"The album is a range of stuff- I would say definitely in the beginning when I started writing, it was pretty heavy, coming out of my past year of...life," the singer said as she struggled to find the proper way to phrase her words. "It's changed since then, which is good because I think that the overall theme too- me, personally, I'm not this super heavy girl."
Duff continued by saying how she's not falling into a black hole because there's brightness at the end of the tunnel.
"I'm one for the sunshine, so it's shifted a lot and it feels a lot better better to me," she said.
While she didn't specifically say that her music would be about her ex, she did make it clear that it'll be about her accomplishments, failures as well as her son, Luca.
"It is heartfelt," Duff said. "A lot of the songs are about love, a lot of them are about loss, one of them is about Luca. It's just more easy. It's not super heavy material. I'm excited for people to hear it. I'm excited about the place we got it to."
A release date for the album has yet to be announced.
