Furious 7 is finally here and has made a tremendous mark at the box office, and now it's time to refresh our memories about where to go from here.

James Wan Dishes About Original Furious 7 Ending, Before Paul Walker's Death

Of what we know so far, the next installment will conclude the franchise. Although fans need not dismay, as the eighth instalment will be broken up, and probably released in sub parts.

Last year, Deadline exclusively learned that Fast and Furious 8 will be drawing the curtains on the speed thriller. Additionally, the publication also reported that director Justin Lin, who helmed the Fast movies before Furious 7 -- which has been directed by James Wan -- might be returning for the final bow. The plan for the finale is pretty unique and ambitious, as it is set to be a "multi-part production"  and there will multiple movies filmed together for the big 8.

Making Of Airborne Car Drop Scene In Furious 7 Revealed

Even though director of Furious 7, James Wan will not be returning, he did a spectacular job on this instalment, braving through the major impediments that came his way. Also, considering Wan essentially came from a indie-horror/thriller background with films like the Insidious and Saw series behind him, he pulled off his first major blockbuster film really well.

Wan recently spoke to Vulture about how he approached the franchise, its emotional charge and moving from making indie-horror movies to this mega franchise. In the piece, film critic Bilge Ebiri talked about how the movie is "haunted by death and trauma," and got Wan to weigh in on taht aspect of the film.

"I didn't set out to do it this way," Wan said. "Furious 7 has become, for obvious reasons, a very melancholy movie. But I realize that my other films are like that, too. Death Sentence is very much like that. I'm a guy that makes sad action films."

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
