A new report revealed that the contracts of some of the pivotal actors of The Good Wife have been extended for two more seasons.

How Will Kalinda Exit The Good Wife?

TVLine got the exclusive information that Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski and Matt Czuchry's contracts with the show have been renewed for a much longer period. But the report also adds that this news should be taken with a pinch of salt and doesn't confirm that the show will run through an eighth season.

In fact only recently the television website had hinted at the fact that seventh season was probably the last if things went the creators' way. Robert and Michelle King, the creators of the series always envisioned the show lasting for seven seasons, according to the report. But at the end of the day, the final word lies with the network i.e. CBS.

Will Johnny Elfman Return To Pursue Alicia?

"It's a big question mark, because it's a question that's beyond us," Robert told TVLine. "It's...CBS."

The co-creator also added that the kind of episode titles they were dishing out lately probably had fans nervous, as they seemed to portend that the end is nigh. "That doesn't mean an end is an end," he said assuringly.

We don't completely agree with this consensus though, in fact the episode titles don't suggest that at all, in fact Alicia's (Julianna Margulies) new role as State's Attorney, as fraught with trouble it might be, is an exciting new realm to explore and could play out for long.

Here's the official synopsis for the next episode, titled 'Winning Ugly':

"When potential voter fraud is discovered in the State's Attorney election, Eli and Alicia take steps to stop a recount by enlisting the help of a well-respected civil rights lawyer, Spencer Randolph (Ron Rifkin). Also, Diane learns she unwittingly submitted false evidence in Cary's case."

The episode will air on April 11 at 9 p.m. E.T. on CBS.
