During Wednesday night's new episode of Law and Order: SVU, detective Olivia Benson has to deal with an anti-vaccine debate after a group of teens get the measles because a mother refuses to get her child vaccinated.

New Details Emerge About The 'SVU' 3- Part Crossover Event

During the episode Granting Immunity, a mother named Trudy defends her decision to not get her child vaccinated and when the rest of the team get called to investigate a high school party they learn that every child at the party has been infected.

Detectives learn that Trudy got her son's physician to falsify her infant's son vaccination reports but the shocker comes when Trudy's young son Gabriel comes in contact with Noah at the doctors' office and spreads the disease to Benson's baby.

'Law & Order: SVU' Picked Up For Another Season

Because of Trudy's decision, detectives charge her with reckless endangerment after 48 cases of measles are detected in the area.

While Trudy claims that the vaccines have severe side effects such as pneumonia, bronchitis or death, she is found guilty in court and sentenced to three months in prison.

Luckily for fans, while the episode may be over, there is more SVU on the way and it looks like there's another 3-part crossover event on the way.

On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter announced that after the NBC drama received impressive reviews and had very high ratings, television producer Dick Wolf has decided to try it again.

The site reported that Dallas Roberts will play the role of Greg Yates, a charismatic doctor who becomes the prime suspect of series of rapes and murders.

Sadly there aren't too many details to give away however luckily for fans the 3-part crossover episode isn't too far away. The site also confirmed that the episodes are scheduled to air on April 28 and 29 on NBC.

Law and Order: SVU airs every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. on NBC. Viewers can watch full episodes of SVU on the NBC website.
