No matter how much he tries to prove he didn't kill his son, Tom, Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe) has remained as Detective Cornell's (Juliette Lewis) primes suspect on Secrets and Lies-and now, he will be forced to go to extremes in order to get her off his back.

Things Get More Threatening & Dangerous For Ben & His Family

Teaming up with Jim Fenton (Michael Beach), he will try to start proving Cornell is actually a crooked cop-convinced that it is the only way to keep himself out of prison for his son's murder.

"She's not going to stop unless I stop her," he says to his wife, Kristy (KaDee Strickland) in a preview clip for the Sunday, April 12 episode.

A Vigilante Seeks Revenge Against Ben

"How are you going to stop her?" Kristy demands.

With Fenton's help, Ben tracks down someone else who was once one of Cornell's targets during an investigation (who has a surprising identity)-but the message from her is pretty ominous and not one that bodes well for him.

"Once you're on the wrong side of Detective Cornell, that's where you stay," she warns Ben.

However, Ben's attempts to discredit her are also not going to cause Cornell to back down-and she may go after Ben harder than ever.

"Mess with this woman, and the fallout will be nuclear," a voiceover warns in the preview clip.

And as the two continue to play cat and mouse with each other in an effort to prove each one is hiding something, they could wind up in a dangerous situation that sees both their lives at risk.

Secrets and Lies airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
