During the episode of The Young and the Restless that aired Tuesday it appeared as though Jack (Peter Bergman) went from getting married to Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) to being held captive by Kelly (Cady McClain), but it turns out Bergman is playing dual roles now on the soap.

Courtney Will Be Back On 'The Young and the Restless'?

It seems as though Phyllis did not actually marry Jack, but she did marry Fake Jack otherwise known as Jack's imposter.

On Tuesday, TV Insider revealed some insight on this intriguing twist straight from Bergman!

Did Sharon Kill Austin On 'The Young and the Restless'?

Evil twins, imposters and doppelgangers are long-time friends of soap operas, but Bergman admitted, "I don't know that I would have invited this."

He did add that he is "having a ball now" that this plot twist is here.

"The challenge is to make it entertaining and the best way to do that is to make a lot of it funny, and we do," he revealed.

Bergman dished that his Fake Jack counterpart to the real Jack is probably not "an identical twin," but he doesn't "know for sure.

"I think he is quite literally a doppelganger, that lookalike we all supposedly have walking around on the planet somewhere," he shared, adding, "We're going to find out that he's been in a lot of trouble and is kind of a loose cannon. He was found in a prison in Peru."

It seems as though Victor (Eric Braeden) is the mastermind behind bringing this Fake Jack around and he has done the lookalike thing before with bringing Mariah (Camryn Grimes) to Genoa City to pose as the ghost of Cassie, whom Grimes also portrayed. It turned out that Mariah and Cassie really were twins though.

"It's amazing that he could pull this off twice, isn't it?" Bergman said of Victor.

Fake Jack, according to Bergman, "is extremely well prepared to drop right into Jack's life and take over seamlessly."

There are possible "things that will trip him up here and there" though.

"Fake Jack has a very large appetite for life," Bergman admitted, adding, "He's very careless, but even when he makes a mistake, he's confident he can fix it."

This storyline definitely sounds juicy especially since Bergman hinted that viewers of the soap have previously seen Fake Jack like when Jack had sex with Kelly in the closet since "Jack was behaving uncharacteristically." It is safe to assume that was actually Fake Jack sleeping with her.

Jack will have his own story to tell as Kelly holds him captive too.

"He'll be having some tough days," Bergman shared.

It sounds like Bergman has his hands full, but he's a veteran when it comes to acting on soaps so he can definitely handle the challenge.

The Young and the Restless airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
