American Horror Story: Freak Show may have ended months ago, but the show's stars will still be eligible to pick up some Emmy Awards later in the year.

'American Horror Story' Actor Has 'Fingers Crossed' For 'Hotel' Return

While much of the buzz around American Horror Story lately has been in regards to Hotel, the show's upcoming fifth season, the actors in Freak Show have yet to receive some recognition for their parts. Which stars of Freak Show should be nominated for Emmys this year?

Jessica Lange has been nominated every year for her work on the show, winning for season 1 and for Coven. She will likely return again to the Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie category for her performance as Elsa Mars. While the buzz around her character wasn't as high as in previous seasons, Lange has said that it is her favorite character she's played on the show.

Kathy Bates should also be considered a lock to be nominated. The actress won the award for Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for playing Madame Delphine LaLaurie in Coven. The legendary actress played bearded lady Ethel Darling in Freak Show, and will likely be nominated for it this year.

Sarah Paulson had the very difficult role of playing conjoined twins Dot and Bette Tattler in Freak Show. She has been nominated the past two years for American Horror Story but has never won an Emmy. For the degree of difficulty alone she could potentially take home the win in Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie.

Beyond those three actresses, there is some uncertainty on who else could be nominated. Michael Chiklis is a previous Emmy winner and could be nominated again for playing Dell Toledo, while onscreen wife Angela Bassett, who played Desiree, was nominated last year for Coven. While neither were considered huge standouts compared to their costars, they could still get in.

Frances Conroy has been nominated twice for her work on American Horror Story but has never won. Denis O'Hare was nominated in season 1. Like Chiklis and Bassett, they could be back despite having smaller characters.

Then there's Finn Wittrock. The young actor who played Dandy Mott in Freak Show was considered a big standout and probably should be nominated. However, his lack of name recognition may end up hurting him, especially if voters don't watch the whole season to see his full performance.

Fans of Evan Peters and Emma Roberts may not be pleased with the Emmys, since neither have been recognized in the past. Peters did have a big role this year though with lots of meaty material, so it's possible that he could receive his first Emmy nomination.

It remains to be seen who the Emmys will deem worthy from the Freak Show cast. The Emmy nominations will be announced on July 16.
