Their sizzling on-screen chemistry helped propel two films already, and now Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone could be trying to team up for a lucky number three.

According to a Deadline report, the pair, who portrayed on-screen love interests in both 2011's Crazy Stupid Love and 2013's Gangster Squad, are both allegedly in talks to join Damian Chazelle's follow-up to his Oscar-nominated WhiplashLa La Land, after Chazelle's first film star, Miles Teller, and Emma Watson, both moved on to other projects.

No deals have been finalized for either Stone or Gosling, but the plan is for them both to officially sign on to the project and get going in front of the cameras by this fall.

According to MTV News, the plot for La La Land reveals that it is a contemporary love story about an L.A. based actress, Mia, and jazz pianist, Sebastian, who fall in love.

The pair first wowed audiences with their chemistry in Crazy Stupid Love, an ensemble romantic comedy which also starred Steve Carrell and Julianne Moore. The two shared adorable moments in the film, which included reenacting the famous dance lift from Dirty Dancing.

Their partnerships have been a part of a new spate of similar ones among some of Hollywood's biggest names over the years. Among the other pairs who team up more than once have included Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio (Titanic and Revolutionary Road), Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan (Joe Versus The Volcano, Sleepless in Seattle, and You've Got Mail), Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler (The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, Blended), and Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook and Serena).
