Doctor Who's season 9 premiere may become the series' darkest story to date.

Rumors swirling around the Internet indicate that the two-part Steven Moffat penned episode may see the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) contemplating the murder of a child.

Before you gasp in absolute horror, The Mirror reports that the youth in question might be a young iteration of Davros. The name "Davros" holds a special dread for Whovians and Time Lords alike. If Twelve comes face-to-face with an iteration of the man who pioneered the Daleks, than eliminating the child-version of his nemesis could save millions of lives.

But would the Doctor do that?

"The dramatic season opener is based on a line muttered 40 years ago by Tom Baker's Doctor in 'Genesis of the Daleks,'" The Mirror teased. "At the time, he asked: 'If someone who knew the future pointed out a child to you and told you that child would grow up totally evil, to be a ruthless dictator who would destroy millions of lives, could you then kill that child?'"

Rumors of Davros' return, however, are still unconfirmed. Viewers will have to wait until this fall to find out who will ultimately appear in "The Magician's Apprentice" and "The Witch's Familiar."
