ABC has released a synopsis for the season 7 finale of Castle along with the specific release date of season's final episode.

'Castle' Star Still Uncertain About Show's Future

The network has sent out a press release revealing what's to come in the season 7 finale of Castle, which is titled Hollander's Woods.

"A death in the woods draws Castle [Nathan Fillion] back to a terrifying and defining event in his childhood," the synopsis reads. "Investigation leads to obsession, as he attempts to unearth answers that have eluded him for decades, all while Beckett [Stana Katic] faces a crossroads of her own, on the season finale of 'Castle.'"

The season finale is slated on Monday, May 11 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

Castle fans are resting a little bit easier this week after it was announced that Fillion had renewed his contract to keep doing the show beyond season 7. However, his costar Katic has yet to sign a new contract. Additionally, the show runner David Amann is stepping down from his post.

The future of Castle is still uncertain considering Katic is a big part of the show's success alongside Castle. Their relationship is what has driven the show for seven seasons now, and imagining the series without Katic is strange. ABC may choose to cancel the show if Katic fails to sign a new contract beyond season 7.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
