A veterinarian is expected to be empathetic of animals who are hurt or fatally ill, but when a young, Texas veterinarian post an image of her hold a dead cat by an arrow through its head she may have gotten herself in trouble with the law.

On Friday, ABC 13 reported that Dr. Kristen Lindsay was fired from her job at the Washington Animal Clinic in Brenham, Texas when she posted the photo on her Facebook page which has since been deleted.

She captioned the photo: "My first bow kill. lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through its (sic) head. Vet of the year award...gladly accepted."

After the photo hit social media, the clinic reportedly received hundreds of calls from outraged people and even allegedly got a bomb threat because of the post.

"Our goal now is to go on and try to fix our black eye and hope that people are reasonable and understand that those actions don't anyway portray what we're for here at Washington Animal Clinic," said another doctor who works at the clinic, Dr. Bruce Buenger.

The Austin County Sheriff's Office has also reportedly received calls and comments from around the world asking them to investigate further and find out who shot and killed the cat and charge them with animal cruelty.

"This is not acceptable in our society. This is not how we live in Austin County," said Sheriff Brandes.

Even though Lindsay claimed the cat was "feral," a woman in the community said that an orange and white cat recently went missing right before the image was posted online on the same road Lindsay lives.

"Disgust. Deplorable that anybody, not just a vet, that anybody can do that to a cat," the woman said.
